The EA App works there, but when he launches Mass Effect 3 (2012 version) it crashes at the main menu. I'm devastated I can no longer play with him. I'm pretty sure he has In-Game overlay disabled as he had it disabled on Origin, but I will ask.
What wasn't acceptable was EA's crummy installer. Which failed at every step! As OP points out, despite endemic issues with the app, EA has been sitting on its hands, providing basically no support to the numerous complaints about this exact problem on their forums. Including one person asking for a direct installer, like above, and being blown ...
EA app won't open. this app sucks. yesterday it was working just fine and all of a sudden now it doesn't even open. I've tried everything, clearing the Electronic Arts file, running as admin, enabling the beta thing in region settings... I don't know what else to do. Also, I tried running the ErrorReporter file and it says background services ...
Firstly, completely exit Origin in task manager. Go to "C:\Program Data", open the "Origin" folder, and scroll down to the bottom. I ended up giving up on the EA games app. I spent my free time over a day getting to the point of having a game downloaded, and now the game as well as the EA app won't even launch anymore, just start and crash immediately. I'll wait a year or two and try again.
For Mass Effect 1 leave the app on. For Mass Effect 2 & 3 launch the game -> alt tab to the EA App -> go Offline. The achievements will work that way. The EA App is a wonder of the modern world. Never before has a multi-billion dollar company created an application with such flaws. Stalled downloads. Window scaling and UI glitches. Hi! I found a solution (involving what you kindly shared) that only involves a few steps: Close the app (taskbar > exit) Task Manager > Processes > End Task: EA & EA Background Service (HARD REQUIREMENT) Open app again and then log out (3 small bars in the top left). Log back in and try downloading again.
Open up Steam. Go to Steam Settings --> Controller Settings. Add Switch controller in Steam. Go to Steam Library --> "Add non-steam game". Add EA Play (NOT FIFA 22) Open EA Play via Steam. Open FIFA through EA Play. Press Shift + Tab in FIFA and should now bring up Steam overlay and the controller settings are therefore active.
I have FIFA 21 and Madden 22 installed on my hd and for some reason when I launch the EA Play app the games are not there and the app is asking to download the games. The games files are located in the C:\Program Files\EA Games\
