Shirley Meacham (April 17, 1927 – December 11, 2010) was an American nurse and politician. Shirley Terry was born in Helena, Arkansas , to parents Lee and Edith Terry. The family moved to Clarendon , where she graduated high school.
His wife, Shirley Ann Walters, served from 2003 to 2008 in the Arkansas House of Representatives as a Republican. [1] Walters ran in 2008 as a Democrat to succeed his wife in the Arkansas House, but he was defeated by Republican nominee Terry Rice of Waldron. [2] Walters died at the age of sixty-nine in Greenwood, Arkansas. [3] [4]
In 2008 she was elected to the Arkansas's Writers Hall of Fame. [6] In the last years of her life she bought a house in Portland, Oregon and moved there from New York City to be near the family of one of her daughters. Upon her death from cancer in 2019 at age 84, she was survived by her two daughters and three grandchildren. [4]
