While a senior at Gresham High School, Crouser was named Gatorade High School Track and Field Athlete of the Year in 2010. [1] He was also Track and Field News "High School Athlete of the Year." [2] On May 1, 2010, he set the national high school record at 244' 2" (74.42m). This was broken in 2012 by Billy Stanley of South Park, PA.
Murro was the top American at the Olympics, throwing 80.08 m (262 ft 8 + 1 ⁄ 2 in) and placing ninth; [1] [4] Track & Field News ranked him as the world's 10th best javelin thrower that year. [5] The magazine put him on the cover of its April 1969 issue.

At Newberg High School, Cyrus lettered in football, basketball, and baseball. He did not pick up a javelin until his senior year of high school. In 1966 he was a walk-on track and field athlete at North Texas State University (later named University of North Texas) in Denton, TX where he earned a full scholarship, throwing the javelin. His sophomore year his best throw was 219'2", his junior year 253'1" and his senior year 280'7".

Breaux Greer (born October 19, 1976) is a retired American track and field athlete who competed in the javelin throw.After attending Ouachita Parish High School and the University of Louisiana at Monroe, he went on to be the current American record holder in the event, with a throw of 91.29 m (299.5 ft), achieved on June 21, 2007, at the 2007 USA Outdoor Championships.
