The first government newspaper was Aimro, which began publication on January 17, 1901. The creation of the Amharic newspaper was ordered by Emperor Menelik. A Greek businessman, Andreas E. The Ethiopian Herald is a government-owned English-language newspaper published by the Ethiopian Press Agency, which also publishes the Amharic-language Addis Zemen.
