Temple Terrace was named for the then-new hybrid, the Temple orange also called the tangor.
The building is faced in French and Texas limestone, making it one of the tallest limestone structures in the world. Municipalities account for 163 square miles (420 km 2). The modern boundaries of the county place it midway along the west coast of Florida.
