Glomerular filtration rate (GFR) is the volume of fluid filtered from the renal (kidney) glomerular capillaries into the Bowman's capsule per unit time. [4] Central to the physiologic maintenance of GFR is the differential basal tone of the afferent (input) and efferent (output) arterioles (see diagram).
A woman's breasts change during pregnancy to prepare them for breastfeeding a baby. Normal changes include: Tenderness of the nipple or breast; An increase in breast size over the course of the pregnancy; Changes in the color or size of the nipples and areola; More pronounced appearance of Montgomery's tubercles (bumps on the areola)
An estimate of the GFR is used clinically to determine the degree of kidney impairment and to track the progression of the disease. The GFR, however, does not reveal the source of the kidney disease. This is accomplished by urinalysis, measurement of urine protein excretion, kidney imaging, and, if necessary, kidney biopsy. [1]
EGFR may refer to: Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR), a transmembrane receptor protein in humans; Estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), a measure of ...
Midwives are autonomous practitioners who provide basic and emergency health care before, during and after pregnancy and childbirth, generally to women with low-risk pregnancies. Midwives are trained to assist during labour and birth, either through direct-entry or nurse-midwifery education programmes.
At birth, female babies have around 1 to 2 million oocytes, and roughly 1,000 immature eggs are lost each month after the first period. In their late 30s, most women have about 25,000 oocytes ...
EGFR signaling cascades Diagram of the EGF receptor highlighting important domains. Epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) is a transmembrane protein that is activated by binding of its specific ligands, including epidermal growth factor and transforming growth factor alpha (TGF-α). [7]
Affected men often find that they need to nap during the day just to stay functional. Some men with low testosterone report feeling fatigued to the point that tiredness affects their quality of ...
