Lord Venkateswara Tarigonda Vengamamba (alternate spelling: Venkamamba; 20 April 1730 – 21 August 1817), also known as Matrusri Tarigonda Vengamamba , [ 2 ] was a poet and staunch devotee of God Venkateswara in the 18th century.
Venkateswara literally means "Lord of Venkata". [ 4 ] [ 5 ] The word is a combination of the words Venkata (the name of a hill in Andhra Pradesh) and iśvara ("Lord"). [ 6 ] According to the Brahmanda and Bhavishyottara Puranas , the word "Venkata" means "destroyer of sins", deriving from the Sanskrit words vem (sins) and kata (power of immunity).
According to a legend, he had the privilege of playing dice with Venkateswara. The 1974 Kannada movie Sri Srinivasa Kalyana has the story of Bhavaji at the end, the role of Bhavaji played by Raja Shankar. The 2017 Telugu movie Om Namo Venkatesaya captures the story of Bhavaji in a great manner, with the role of Bhavaji played by Nagarjuna Akkineni.
