Methyl pentanoate, commonly known as methyl valerate, is the methyl ester of pentanoic acid (valeric acid) with a fruity odor. Methyl pentanoate is commonly used in fragrances, beauty care, soap, laundry detergents at levels of 0.1–1%. In a very pure form (greater than 99.5%) it is used as a plasticizer in the manufacture of plastics.
Isocaproic acid, also known as 4-methylpentanoic acid or 4-methylvaleric acid, is a carboxylic acid of five carbons with methyl substitution at the fourth carbon. References [ edit ]
Valeric acid or pentanoic acid is a straight-chain alkyl carboxylic acid with the chemical formula CH 3 (CH 2) 3 COOH. Like other low-molecular-weight carboxylic acids, it has an unpleasant odor. It is found in the perennial flowering plant Valeriana officinalis, from which it gets its name. Its primary use is in the synthesis of its esters.
PRL-8-53 is a nootropic substituted phenethylamine that has been shown to act as a hypermnesic drug in humans; it was first synthesized by medical chemistry professor Nikolaus Hansl at Creighton University in the 1970s as part of his work on amino ethyl meta benzoic acid esters. [1] [2]
a desaturation at the sixth carbon of alpha-linolenic acid by a Δ6 desaturase to produce stearidonic acid (SDA, 18:4 ω-3), elongation of the stearidonic acid by a Δ6 elongase to produce eicosatetraenoic acid (ETA, 20:4 ω-3), desaturation at the fifth carbon of eicosatetraenoic acid by a Δ5 desaturase to produce eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA ...
[4] [7] Conversely, extended-release forms of phenylpropanolamine reach peak levels after 3.0 to 4.5 hours. [4] The pharmacokinetics of phenylpropanolamine are linear across an oral dose range of 25 to 100 mg. [ 4 ] Steady-state levels of phenylpropanolamine are achieved within 12 hours when the drug is taken once every 4 hours. [ 4 ]
Meprobamate—marketed as Miltown by Wallace Laboratories and Equanil by Wyeth, among others—is a carbamate derivative used as an anxiolytic drug. It was the best-selling minor tranquilizer for a time, but has largely been replaced by the benzodiazepines due to their wider therapeutic index (lower risk of toxicity at therapeutically prescribed doses) and lower incidence of serious side effects.
3,4-Methylenedioxy-N-methylphentermine (MDMP or 3,4-methylenedioxy-α,α,N-trimethylphenethylamine) is a lesser-known psychedelic drug. MDMP was first synthesized by Alexander Shulgin . In his book PiHKAL , the minimum dosage is listed as 110 mg, and the duration is listed as approximately 6 hours. [ 1 ]
