Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course is a road course auto racing facility located in Troy Township, Morrow County, Ohio, United States, just outside the village of Lexington.It hosts a number of racing series such as IndyCar, IMSA WeatherTech Sportscar Championship, and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, along with other club events such has SCCA and National Auto Sport Association.
Superstar Racing Experience (SRX), officially known as the Camping World SRX Series, is an American stock car racing series founded by Tony Stewart, Ray Evernham, Sandy Montag and George Pyne. [1] The formation of the series was announced on July 13, 2020, and debuted on June 12, 2021, televised on CBS on Saturday nights.
The race essentially invented showroom stock endurance racing. [1] In the mid-90s, the track fell under neglect and the 24 Hours of Nelson Ledges, held continuously since 1968, was discontinued. [5] In 1997, track manager John McGill called the surface "too trashed" to host the Longest Day of Nelson, and that too was discontinued.
The 2021 Camping World SRX Series was the inaugural season of the Superstar Racing Experience. The six-race season started at Stafford Motor Speedway on June 12 and ended at the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway on July 17, with Tony Stewart being crowned the inaugural series champion.
The airport was made possible when Ohio Governor James Rhodes passed a bill providing funding for each county in the state to have an airport. Land was donated in 1966 for the airport to be built. Operations began in 1968. [3] The airport's 50-year anniversary was celebrated in 2018. [3] The airport was celebrated with a re-dedication in 2019. [4]
