The Terrell County Courthouse, in Dawson, Georgia, is a historic courthouse built in 1892. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980. [1]Its NRHP nomination asserts it is the best exemplification of High Victorian architecture amongst all of Georgia's courthouses. [2]

The community was named after Old Herod, a Creek Indian chief. [2] Variant names are "Herod Town" and "Herodtown". [1] A post office named Herrodtown was established in 1848 and closed in 1852, then a post office called Herod was in operation from 1892 until 1907.
