The Ogden Utah Temple (formerly the Ogden Temple) is the sixteenth constructed and fourteenth operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Located in Ogden, Utah , it was originally built with a modern, single-spire design, similar to the Provo Utah Temple .
The LDS Church has 367 temples in various phases, which includes 202 dedicated temples (193 operating and 9 others undergoing renovations [1]), 3 with a dedication scheduled, 48 under construction, 1 with a groundbreaking scheduled, [2], and 112 others announced (not yet under construction). [3]
The old tabernacle was for a time abandoned, and then used as the local genealogical library for the Ogden Branch of the Genealogical Society of Utah from 1966 to 1971. The tabernacle was torn down beginning in August 1971 to allow landscaping to be completed prior to the open house of the Ogden Utah Temple. [6] [7]

The trend continued with the Provo Utah Temple (15), and eight years later with the Jordan River Utah Temple (20). Each temple was larger than the last (128,325 sq ft (11,921.8 m 2 ) and 148,236 sq ft (13,771.6 m 2 ), respectively), and added more sealing rooms: twelve for Provo and seventeen for Jordan River.
