In 1975 and 1976, the Eisenhower dollar was issued for circulation, among other commemorative coins in those years. The Susan B. Anthony dollar was minted from 1979 to 1981, and then again in 1999. The Dolley Madison silver dollar was available to buy in 1999, made to commemorate the 150th anniversary of Dolley Madison’s death. [18]

The Quarter-Dollar, Half-Dollar and Dollar coins were issued in the copper 91.67% nickel 8.33% composition for general circulation and the Government issued six-coin Proof Set. A special three-coin set of 40% silver coins were also issued by the U.S. Mint in both Uncirculated and Proof.
The Anthony dollars, like the Eisenhower dollars, were made from a copper-nickel clad copper core. The 1981 coins were issued for collectors only but occasionally show up in circulation. The Anthony dollar, because of its color, size, and design, was often confused with the quarter. It was never popular and production was suspended after 1981.
^3 The George Washington Bicentennial half dollar was again proposed as a circulation coin. Washington was to appear on the half dollar for one year only in 1932. However, due to the lack of demand because of the Great Depression, no half dollars were minted for circulation for three years from 1930 to 1932. Washington quarters were struck instead.
