RTV silicone (room-temperature-vulcanizing silicone) is a type of silicone rubber that cures at room temperature. It is available as a one-component product, or mixed ...

  3. Vulcanization - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vulcanization

Room-temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone is constructed of reactive oil-based polymers combined with strengthening mineral fillers. There are two types of room-temperature vulcanizing silicone: RTV-1 (One-component systems); hardens due to the action of atmospheric humidity, a catalyst, and acetoxysilane.

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resin_casting

A flexible mold can be made of latex rubber, room temperature vulcanized silicone rubber, of which there are two types:Tin catalysed [2] (sometimes called condensation cured due to the alcohols weeping out as a by product of the reaction) or Platinum [3] (or addition cured, thus no byproduct) catalysed. Other similar materials can be used at ...

  7. Talk:RTV silicone - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:RTV_silicone

Room Temperature Vulcanization, RTV, is an abused term but is slapped on many Silicone Products. Vulcanization is a process that adds Sulfur to polymer chains to harden Carbon based "rubbers". I suppose over time the term RTV got put on any rubbery substance that cures at room temperature. Silicones do not use Carbon or Sulfur.

  8. Injection molding of liquid silicone rubber - Wikipedia

    en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Injection_molding_of...

[1] [third-party source needed] Due to the thermosetting nature of the material, liquid silicone injection molding requires special treatment, such as intensive distributive mixing, while maintaining the material at a low temperature before it is pushed into the heated cavity and vulcanized. Chemically, silicone rubber is a family of thermoset ...
