Each player is dealt thirteen cards. During each hand, the object is to complete the appointed run and kinds, and get rid of as many cards as possible. When one player gets rid of all of their cards, the cards remaining in the rest of the players hands score penalty points. The player who completes all twelve hands with the fewest points wins.
Robbers' rummy is a card game for two or more players. It is a variant of German Rummy dating to the early 20th century. [2] Being derived from normal rummy, it emphasises arrangement of cards based on card matching rules (generally simplified, but thereby no less challenging), while abandoning the notions of card discards and scoring entirely.
It may be played by 2 to 8 players, but it is best for 3 to 5. The term Michigan rummy may also refer to an unrelated game, very similar to the Canadian Rummoli (both sharing traits with the much older Poch), involving a playing board, chips, and accumulated pots that are awarded to players who play certain cards. [7]
Rummy is a group of games related by the feature of matching cards of the same rank or sequence and same suit. The basic goal in any form of rummy is to build melds which can be either sets (three or four of a kind of the same rank) or runs (three or more sequential cards of the same suit) and either be first to go out or to amass more points than the opposition.
If, after a player goes out, another player has too many cards, they simply count the value of all cards in the hand. If a player has too few cards, they are charged 10 points for each missing card. If any player goes out and is found to have too few cards, they take back all cards that were laid down in that turn, and play continues.
In a game with three players, each player receives 13 cards. In a two-player game each player receives 15 cards and each player draws two cards on each of their turns and discards one. If each player draws two cards, there is usually the additional requirement that a player must have made two canastas in order to go out.
Three players can play this game with eight cards being dealt and attempt to meld nine. Four players can play with seven cards dealt and attempt to meld eight. Players may "borrow" from opponents melds, providing they leave at least three cards on that meld. Black cards with a value of 2 may be used to replace any other card in the deck
Treppenrommé is a card game for two to four players, which is a variant of Rummy played in Germany and Austria. The name means "Staircase Rummy" and comes from the fact that the discard pile must be arranged such that every card is partly covered and partly visible, forming a so-called 'staircase' (Treppe).
