Kingaroy (/ k ɪ ŋ ə ˈ r ɔɪ /) [2] is a rural town and locality in the South Burnett Region, Queensland, Australia. [3] [4] The town is situated on the junction of the D'Aguilar and the Bunya Highways, 218 kilometres (135 mi) north-west of the state capital Brisbane [5] and 141 kilometres (88 mi) south west of Gympie. The South Burnett Wine Region is another attraction, with Verdelho grown successfully, due to the warm climate and rich soils. With around ten wineries, it is a relatively new wine region. Grapes were first planted in the area in 1898. [3] Industrial production began in 1993.

As the name suggests, South Nanango is a locality south of the town of Nanango. The land is between 400 and 450 metres above sea level. The lower land which is well-watered by many small creeks is used for agriculture, principally grazing cattle. The higher land in the east and south of the locality is the South Nanango State Forest.
