Wright State University is a public research university in Fairborn, Ohio, United States. Originally opened in 1964 as a branch campus of Miami University and Ohio State University , it became an independent institution in 1967 and was named in honor of aviation pioneers Orville and Wilbur Wright , who were residents of nearby Dayton .
The 1992–93 Wright State Raiders men's basketball team represented Wright State University in the 1992–93 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The Raiders, led by head coach Ralph Underhill , played their home games at the Nutter Center in Dayton, Ohio , as members of the Mid-Continent Conference .
In his first season, Wright State was the regular season Horizon League Champion, going 23–10 overall, and 13–3 in conference play. Their 3 losses were at Youngstown State, at Butler, and at Milwaukee. In an impressive season, Wright State only lost one home game all season, that was a 3-point loss to Bowling Green.
Wright State was founded in 1964 as a branch campus of both Miami University (Ohio) and Ohio State University.The school began its athletic program in 1968 as an NCAA Division II school, where the athletics program achieved great success, having over 200 All-American athletes and winning the 1983 Division II Men's Basketball national championship.
1993-94 was a frustrating follow-up to the conference tournament championship and NCAA birth of the year before. A rare low-scoring Underhill team that leaned heavily on star center Mike Nahar, this team was competitive but only middle of the pack.
