Tutored by his father in cantorial music and ministerial duties, Chait first led services age 14. At 19 he was appointed in Leeds, where he is now Senior Rabbi to the United Hebrew Congregation, the largest UK congregation outside London, as well as Jewish Chaplain to Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust.

The church building is near to Leeds General Infirmary. It is a church in the Deanery of North West Leeds. Although based in the city centre, the congregation is drawn from all parts of the city, including some student congregation. The current staff team includes the rector Lizzy Woolf, associate rectors Eve Ridgeway and Adrian Smith. [1]
