The BMW S65 is a naturally aspirated V8 petrol engine which was produced from 2007 to 2013. Its main use was in the BMW M3 (where it replaced the BMW S54 straight-six engine). There is no direct replacement for the S65, since the following generation of M3 switched to a turbocharged straight-six engine (the BMW S55 ).
The engines for both cars are based on the 90-degree V8 engine from the Alfa Romeo Tipo 33 racing car, and have double overhead camshafts and a dry sump. The 33 Stradale engine has a displacement of 2.00 L (122 cu in) and a flat-plane crankshaft, while the Montreal uses an engine enlarged to 2.6 L (160 cu in) and uses a cross-plane crankshaft.
The process of evolving the engine was gradual and continuous; by 2006 almost all the 1959-specification engine components had been upgraded, so that the 2020 twin-turbo 6.75-litre engine produced over 150% more motive power and torque than at the beginning of its life, had 40% better fuel economy, and produced 99.5% less exhaust emission. Triumph Stag with its original V8 engine. The Triumph V8 is a 3.0 litre V8 developed and built by the Triumph Motor Company for the Triumph Stag. The engine was a development of the Triumph slant-four engine. It consisted of a cast iron block and aluminium cylinder heads with a single overhead cam per bank. [1]
While the engine block is the same size as the V8, the cylinder heads are shortened versions of the V8 heads. It is made on the same production line as the AJ133. The AJ126 is a 3.0 L; 182.8 cu in (2,995 cc) 90° petrol V6, having a bore and stroke of 84.5 mm × 89 mm (3.33 in × 3.50 in) with a 10.5:1 compression ratio.
At no point in that weekend did I have to contend with any more than 200 horsepower. Probably not much more than 150, back tires pumped up high like a bicycle. These cars were just so raw, so ...
This is the first eight-cylinder road car engine to use Fuel Stratified Injection (FSI), which was successfully developed by Audi in their Le Mans-winning R8 racing car. The 5.2 V10 FSI was developed directly from this V8 engine. [16] [17] [18] identification parts code prefix/variant: 079.D displacement & configuration
That joke comes courtesy of HotCars, who claims the Indian-owned company has changed gears by focusing on luxury rather than durability. Owners have reported issues with the 5.0-liter V8 engines ...
