The Porter-Leath Early Childhood Foundation (PLECF) was created in October 2004 with a $1,000,000 donation from the Porter-Leath Home. Housed at the Community Foundation of Greater Memphis, the PLECF was developed to create a better tool for raising funds to sustain the Agency.

It has also been known as the Porter Leath Children's Center, which was originally chartered in 1850 as the Protestant Widows' and Orphans' Asylum. The building was built as Columbus Public Schools' Reeb Avenue Elementary School, and was listed on the Columbus Register of Historic Properties in 2013. It was designed in the Neoclassical style by David Riebel, and was built from 1905 to 1907. [2] The building is now owned by the City of Columbus.
