Rembrandt Harmenszoon van Rijn (/ ˈ r ɛ m b r æ n t, ˈ r ɛ m b r ɑː n t /; [2] Dutch: [ˈrɛmbrɑnt ˈɦɑrmə(n)ˌsoːɱ vɑn ˈrɛin] ⓘ; 15 July 1606 [1] – 4 October 1669), usually simply known as Rembrandt, was a Dutch Golden Age painter, printmaker, and draughtsman.
The Rembrandt House Museum (Dutch: Museum Het Rembrandthuis) is a museum located in a former house in the Jodenbreestraat, in the center of Amsterdam. Between 1639 and 1658, the house was occupied by the Dutch painter Rembrandt van Rijn , who also had his studio and art dealership there.
Cornelis married Aeltje Gerritsdr. Schouten in 1611 and was called 14 July 1617 to the Mennonite group in Amsterdam known as the Waterlanders. [1] The poet Joost van den Vondel was deacon of his church and wrote a poem in his honor, mentioning Rembrandt, who portrayed him several times in drawings and etchings. [1]

Rembrandt's teachers in Leiden were Jacob van Swanenburgh [note 1] (from 1621 to 1623, [5] with whom he learned pen drawing [6]) and Joris van Schooten. [note 2] [7]However, his six-month stay in Amsterdam in 1624, with Pieter Lastman and Jan Pynasc, was decisive in his training: Rembrandt learned pencil drawing, the principles of composition, and working from nature. Gerbrand was born in Amsterdam, the son of a jeweller, a Mennonite who fled after 1585 from Antwerp to the north. In 1631 his mother died. His father's second wife was Cornelia Dedel, the daughter of a founder of the Delft chamber of the Dutch East India Company. Arnold Houbraken records Van den Eeckhout was a pupil of Rembrandt.
He was a pupil of Rembrandt and worked in his studio in Amsterdam. Fabritius, who was a member of the Delft School, developed his own artistic style and experimented with perspective and lighting. Among his works are A View of Delft (1652; National Gallery, London), The Goldfinch (1654), and The Sentry (1654).
