Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao (also known as N.T.R [1] [2]) served as Chief Minister of United Andhra Pradesh for four terms, between 1983 and 1995. He was the first person to hold the office while not a member of the Indian National Congress, [1] while representing the Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which he himself founded in 1982.

NTR district is a district in coastal Andhra Region in the Indian state of Andhra Pradesh. The district headquarters is located at Vijayawada. The district is named after former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh N. T. Rama Rao. The district shares boundaries with Guntur, Palnadu, Krishna, Eluru, Khammam and Suryapet districts.
Later in 2006 Government of Andhra Pradesh issued a directive to rename the university as "Dr. NTR University of Health Sciences" [3] The university celebrated its silver jubilee from 1–3 November 2011. In 2022, the then CM of Andhra Pradesh Jagan Mohan Reddy has changed the university name to "DR.
Dr. N.T.R. University of Health Sciences, Vijayawada was established as University of Health Sciences by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and was inaugurated on 9 April by N. T. Rama Rao, the then Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in the city of Vijayawada, Andhra Pradesh, India. It started functioning on 1 November 1986. [72]
NTR Trust was established in 1997, [2] in the same year the Andhra Pradesh government headed by N. Chandrababu Naidu allocated land for the organization. [4] In 2011 the organization announced that they would set up safe drinking water plants for the poor people who don't have easy access to safe drinking water.
