The following year the band moved to 4A Varsity competition. Central was reclassified from 4A to 5A (now 6A) in 2006 and has complete in the state's largest classification ever since. In 2012, the Keller Central marching band was Area champion and qualified for the UIL State Marching contest for the first time in school history.
The Keller High School Band has received numerous awards over the years. The band placed 2nd at the 1999 Texas 4A State Marching Band Contest, and was the 1999 TMEA 4A Honor Band. They have been honored five times by the Foundation for Music Education as a National Winner in the National Wind Band Honors Project.
The Fossil Ridge Panther Regiment is a marching band and color guard. The 2006 Senior Class received over $4.4 million in scholarship offers. [7] The Panther Regiment has made back-to-back appearances in the 2007 4A and 2008 5A State Marching Band Contests.

For marching band, schools compete against other schools in the same UIL conference. The 33 regions are grouped into nine areas (named A-I) for Conferences 5A and 6A, and five areas (A-E) for Conference 4A and down. All schools of all conferences compete in region, area, and state competition annually as a fall semester activity.
