Bucklin has an A.B. in biology from Oberlin College and earned her Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1980. [1] Following her Ph.D., she was a NATO postdoctoral fellow at the Marine Biological Association of the United Kingdom and a postdoctoral scholar at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution from 1980 until 1983.
