Acworth is a city in Cobb County, Georgia, United States. It is part of the Atlanta metropolitan area. As of the 2020 census, this city had a population of 22,440, up from 20,425 in 2010. Acworth is located in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains along the southeastern banks of Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona on the Etowah River.
The Acworth Downtown Historic District, in Acworth, Georgia, is a historic district roughly bounded by Southside Dr., Federal and Lemon Sts, and Senator Richard B. Russell Ave. It is 14 acres (5.7 ha) in area and includes 32 contributing buildings and a contributing structure .
Cobb County was one of nine Georgia counties carved out of the disputed territory of the Cherokee Nation in 1832. [9] It was the 81st county in Georgia and named for Judge Thomas Willis Cobb, who served as a U.S. Senator, state representative, and superior court judge.
Lake Acworth is a 260-acre (110 ha) [1] artificial lake southwest of the city of Acworth, Georgia. It is in the extreme northwestern part of Cobb County. The lake impounds Proctor Creek (not the same as Proctor Creek in nearby Atlanta) and Butler Creek. It outflows into Lake Allatoona. [2]

SR 92 leaves the parkway to turn northward across the dividing line between Lake Allatoona, and Lake Acworth, entering Acworth. The highway follows Lake Acworth Drive through town and parallel to I-75 before crossing that freeway and entering Cherokee County, Georgia. [4] [5] In Cherokee County, SR 92 turns eastward along Alabama Road.
