The Township of Mississauga moved to 1 City Centre Drive near Burnhamthorpe and Hurontario in 1971. It along with Square One was located on the old Robert Norman Carr farm. Built as a 5 floor office building, it was converted as a civic centre in 1971. In 1974 it became City Hall and remained so until 1984.
In 1974, Lisgar became part of Mississauga when the town was given city status and its limits expanded west to Ninth Line (with the remaining area that became part of Oakville 12 years earlier transferred to Milton). [11] An additional annexation of a narrow strip of land west to the then-new Highway 407 was carried out in 2010. [12]
In mid-2014, the City of Mississauga Ward 10 announced to local residents that they would be building a community park, including a recreational facility, and outdoor recreation as well. They would be building this at the Ninth Line corridor opposite Tacc Drive at its northern point and opposite Burdette Terrace toward the southern part.
