Secondary education (ESO is the acronym in Spanish) contains four separate years for students between 12 and 16. Post-compulsory secondary education refers to the four types of courses independent of each other and require the student to have obtained the ESO qualification available: the Bachillerato (two courses), visual arts and design and sport.
These are Primaria (6–12 years old), which is the Spanish equivalent of elementary school and the first year of middle school, and Secundaria (12–16 years old), which would be a mixture of the last two years of middle school and the first two years of high school in the United States. CEIP San Ildefonso is the second oldest school in Madrid, Spain. Its origins date from 1543, the year in which Carlos V granted a Royal Certificate to finance the school. [1] It is dedicated to Saint Ildephonsus. For years, it catered to orphans of public servants but now the pupils are regular Madrid children including many immigrants.
