U.S. Route 1 or U.S. Highway 1 (US 1) is a major north–south United States Numbered Highway that serves the East Coast of the United States. It runs 2,370 miles (3,810 km) from Key West , Florida , north to Fort Kent, Maine , at the Canadian border , making it the longest north–south road in the United States. [ 2 ]
The route was truncated on the southern end to end at Janesville in the late 1940s. [1] Four bypasses were constructed for WIS 26—around Milton to the east in 2013-14, around Fort Atkinson to the west in the 1990s, around Jefferson to the west in the 2000s, and around Watertown to the west in 2012-14. [1]
On its way, it runs through Busseyville. After leaving Lake Koshkonong, WIS 106 then meets WIS 26 at a diamond interchange. Along the way towards Fort Atkinson, it then travels along the north bank of the Rock River. In Fort Atkinson, it intersects US 12 and Bus. WIS 26.

Its southern terminus is at US 1 and SR 161 south of downtown. Its northern terminus is at SR 161 where it meets the northern end of the bypass. SR 161B is signed as a suffixed route, lacking the typical "Business" banner of Maine's other business routes. SR 161B begins at the intersection of Fort Street and US 1 southeast of the city's downtown.
