    Pokemon Yellow Version was an attempt to bring the Pokemon games slightly more in line with the anime, which is why the starter Pokemon is different and why the monster sprites are different. The bosses are exactly the same (unless you're counting Jessie and James as bosses, but they really aren't).

    This is the only Pokemon game that has yet to have at least one update. Pokemon Red was updated to Fire Red and Blue was replaced with Leaf Green, an update of Pokemon Green. Gold and Silver were updated to Crystal. I believe that Yellow should be updated.

    With Pokemon Yellow, I agree. It is the same game as Red and Blue, working with their engine but with slight graphical updates and some minor additional content to make it more like the anime (like a Pikachu that follows you around and Jessie and James from Team Rocket), but otherwise it is the same as those two games.
