In 2015, the parish was renamed Our Saviour and St. Stephen/Our Lady of the Scapular after it merged with the parish of St. Stephen/Our Lady of the Scapular. The parish includes a mission church, the Chapel of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary at 325 East 33rd Street, which had previously merged with St. Stephen/Our Lady of the Scapular.

Our Lady of Sorrows Basilica is a Catholic basilica on the West Side of Chicago, Illinois, which also houses the National Shrine of Saint Peregrine.Located at 3121 West Jackson Boulevard, within the Archdiocese of Chicago, it is, along with St. Hyacinth and Queen of All Saints, one of only three churches in Illinois designated by the Pope with the title of basilica.
The church was designed by noted architect Patrick Keely, an architectural designer prominent throughout the 19th century. He also designed the Holy Name Cathedral in downtown Chicago. [2] Nativity of Our Lord Parish is part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Chicago and is located in the city's Bridgeport neighborhood.

It was first called Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, but because the name was perceived as a "Catholic provocation" the name was changed to "our Saviour." The church became too small, so a new one was built in Hästhagen. The new church, which was designed by Hans Westman, was inaugurated on 9 April 1960, by the Rev. Bernhard Koch.
