Eragon reveals the Eldunarí to the army's leaders, and they plan their attack. Their combined forces attack Urû'baen while Eragon, Saphira, Arya, Elva, and elven spellcasters break into Galbatorix's citadel. After overcoming a series of traps and being separated from the spellcasters, they reach the throne room.
Murtagh frees himself during the battle and assists the Varden, saving the Dwarf King Hrothgar. Eragon and Saphira duel in the skies with Durza. They eventually kill him, but Saphira is heavily injured. Eragon uses magic to heal her before passing out. The following morning, Eragon awakes with Murtagh and a fully healed Saphira.
