The league was established in 2016 as Herefordshire FA County League after the disbandment of the Herefordshire Football League. [1] In July 2019, the league was restructured with the Premier Division increasing from 13 to 15 clubs. [2] In 2021, the Premier Division became a feeder league to Step 6 of the National League System.
The Herefordshire FA consists of two key bodies. The Council , comprising 17 elected representatives from the Leagues within the county plus 11 Life Members. The Council meets 4 times per year to consider policy issues and direction, as well as to approve proposals put forward by the various committees.
In 2022, following a successful season in the Herefordshire FA County League, the club was admitted into the Hellenic League Division One. [2] Having finished second in their first year at the level, losing the play-off final on penalties, the 2023–24 season saw the club promoted as champions.
The league occasionally had clubs from Wales as members – most recently in 2010, Hay St. Mary's entered their third team into the league in the Premier Division. The League was wound up at the end of the 2015–16 season and replaced by The Herefordshire FA County League.
