PUBLIC TOURS. Welcome To Capitol Square. Discover the Ohio Statehouse. Visitors may enter the building at Third Street or the South sliding doors in the underground parking garage on the Green Level. On session days, visitors may also enter at State Street.

The Ohio Statehouse is a masonry building, consisting largely of Columbus limestone. The limestone was taken from a quarry on the west banks of the Scioto River. The stone of the Statehouse foundation is more than 18 feet deep.
The Statehouse is located in downtown Columbus on Capitol Square. Vehicles can access the Statehouse parking garage from Broad Street, State Street and Third Street (there is no High Street entrance.)
Tours are offered in 2024 on Friday, Oct. 18; Saturday, Oct. 19; Friday, Oct. 25 and Saturday, Oct. 26 at the state Capitol. This is a ticketed event. All tickets are sold out in 2024. The tours through the darkened halls of the building depart every half hour between 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
ID ACCESS REQUESTS. Ohio Statehouse IDs will only be issued to Statehouse employees, State of Ohio agency employees with office space in the Ohio Statehouse or work out of the Statehouse on a daily basis, State of Ohio elected officials, agency directors, OLCA members and JLEC registered lobbyists.
Visitors can use their cell phones to explore the Ohio Statehouse and its grounds, and learn about the architecture, history, and current use of the state capitol.
The Rotunda is one of the most remarkable spaces in the Statehouse. Stretching 120 feet from the floor to the skylight, the Rotunda is filled with 12 different colors and distributes light to other areas of the building. The Rotunda skylight is 67 feet lower than the United States Capitol Building in Washington, D.C.
