This lake has three islands; Solo Island located on the north end next to Camp Timerlane, Turtle Island and Scout Island on the southside. Camp Wanakita was designed as a replacement for Erie Heights on Lake Erie which was itself a replacement for Camp Tekahoinwake on the Grand River. Both of these locations were considered too developed so George Jones and co-workers from the YMCA chose Koshlong Lake as the site for Wanakita in 1953. The name "Wanakita" was chosen by Keith Smith.

Kawagama lake is the largest lake in Haliburton county, it does not have any towns or settlements on it. From the northwestern bay (Fletcher Bay) to its southeastern tip (the Hollow River) it is over 16 kilometres (10 mi) in length. In its central area, it is 2.5 kilometres (2 mi).
Kennisis Lake is a lake just southwest of Algonquin Provincial Park in Ontario, Canada.With a surface area of over 1,640 hectares (4,100 acres), it is the second-largest lake in the Haliburton Highlands. [1]
