[1] Originally known as the Daily Public, the Journal has been the major newspaper in Clinton since the mid-19th century. Its offices are now located at 111 S. Monroe Street, right off the downtown square.
Clinton is the largest city and the county seat in DeWitt County, Illinois, United States. The population was 7,004 at the 2020 census. [2] [3] The city and the county are named for DeWitt Clinton, governor of New York, 1817–1823. Clinton Nuclear Generating Station is located six miles away on Clinton Lake.

DeWitt County is a county located in the U.S. state of Illinois. As of the 2020 census, the population was 15,516. [1] Its county seat is Clinton. [2] The county was formed on March 1, 1839, from Macon and McLean counties. The county was named in honor of the seventh Governor of New York State, DeWitt Clinton. [3]
