The Viper engine is a high-performance naturally-aspirated pushrod 2 valve-per-cylinder 90° V10 engine designed by Chrysler but with aluminum block castings designed by Lamborghini for use in the Dodge Viper. Despite its large displacement, it is based on the Chrysler LA V8.
The Dodge Ram SRT was created by DaimlerChrysler's PVO (Performance Vehicle Operations) division, using Dodge Viper and Plymouth Prowler engineers. Extensive wind tunnel testing was used in styling the exterior of the Ram SRT-10. This is the second time that Dodge has put a Viper engine into a Ram pickup.

Dodge Ram SRT-10 – This is a regular or quad-cab body with the Dodge Viper's 8.3L V10 engine, Pirelli tires on 22" rims, lowered suspension, bucket seats, body modifications, and a spoiler. The 2004 version was available only in a regular cab with a 6-speed manual transmission and a Hurst shifter.
