The Female Animal is a 1958 American CinemaScope drama film directed by Harry Keller and starring Hedy Lamarr, Jane Powell, Jan Sterling and George Nader. Although she lived until 2000, this was Lamarr's final film in a film career of nearly 30 years.

'The Woman and the Puppet', Italian: Femmina), released in the United Kingdom and the Philippines as A Woman Like Satan, is a 1959 drama film directed by Julien Duvivier. It is the fourth film adaptation of the 1898 novel La femme et le pantin by Pierre Louÿs.
In the 1950s Powell starred in the film noir The Female Animal (1958) and adventure film Enchanted Island (1958). She made appearances on stage in My Fair Lady and The Sound of Music, and television appearances in guest roles on The Love Boat (1981–1982) and the sitcom Growing Pains (1988–1992). She was a veteran of the Golden Age of Hollywood.

After a brief early film career in Czechoslovakia, including the controversial erotic romantic drama Ecstasy (1933), she fled from her first husband, Friedrich Mandl, and secretly moved to Paris.
