TV 2 has since launched various pay channels such as TV 2 Charlie, TV 2 Film and TV 2 News. SBS, owners of TV Danmark, launched a sister channel called TV Danmark 1 in 2002. The original channel became TV Danmark 2. Just as TV3 and TV3+, TV Danmark 1 was broadcast from the UK. On 4 April 2004, TV Danmark 1 became Kanal 5.
It was renamed TvDanmark 2 when the sister channel TvDanmark 1 was launched. When TvDanmark 1 was renamed Kanal 5, the first channel reverted to its old name, TvDanmark. SBS unveiled a new strategy in March 2006 with changes to be implemented on the short and long terms. Among them were the renaming of TV Danmark as Kanal 4 on 1 May 2006. [3]

SBS was founded by Harry E. Sloan in 1989, [2] [3] who bought a stake in the Danish station Kanal 2 (a local station in Copenhagen, now Kanal 4) and Norwegian TVNorge.In 1991, Sloan bought the Swedish Nordic Channel, which was soon renamed Kanal 5 and became the third-largest commercial broadcaster in the country.

After a two-year break, Kanal 5 Denmark and SBS TV Denmark relaunched Big Brother Danmark in 2012. The show aired for three regular seasons (2012–2014) and one special season (2012). The show was finally cancelled after 13 years by SBS Discovery on June 19, 2014, due to poor ratings. [1]
