Out Front! is an album by pianist Jaki Byard recorded in 1964 (with one track from the 1961 session that produced Here's Jaki) and released on the Prestige label. [1]
Byard was born in Worcester, Massachusetts, on June 15, 1922. [2] At that time, his parents – John Sr and Geraldine Garr – were living at 47 Clayton Street. [3] Both of his parents played musical instruments; his mother played the piano, as did his uncles and grandmother, the last playing in cinemas during the silent film era. [4]

The album was recorded in concert on July 24 and July 25, 1998. [1] The tracks are diverse, with contrasts in material highlighted through the use of medleys. [1] Pianist Jaki Byard plays with bassist Ralph Hamperian and drummer Richard Allen on all of the tracks; for the final two they are joined by tenor saxophonist Ricky Ford.
