Robin Givhan (born September 11, 1964) is an American fashion editor and Pulitzer Prize winning writer. Givhan was a fashion editor for The Washington Post. She joined the Post in 1995, and left in 2010 to become the fashion critic and fashion correspondent for The Daily Beast and Newsweek. She returned to the Post in 2014. [1]
In 1981, Janet Cooke, a staff writer on the Post's "Weeklies" section, received the Pulitzer Prize in Feature Writing for her story, "Jimmy's World," a profile of an eight-year-old heroin addict in Washington, D.C. [64] The Post later returned the award when the newspaper revealed the story had been fabricated.
She moved to Washington, D.C. and began taking freelance assignments for The Washington Post and the tabloid On Tap. [1] In 2007, Hesse interned for the Post's Style section, later becoming a permanent feature writer. [5] [4] In 2018, she was appointed the newspaper's first ever gender columnist. [5]
