Uttara Model Town or simply Uttara (Bengali: উত্তরা romanised: Uttora) is a neighbourhood of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The name derives from the Bengali word uttor (Bengali: উত্তর) meaning "north". It lies on the road to Gazipur, and adjoins Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.
As announced in 2012, each code would be a six-digit number, with the first two digits indicating one of 72 postal districts (64 in Trinidad, eight in Tobago). [1] It was piloted in Point Fortin in 2013 [ 2 ] and later tested in four other Trinidad communities, as well as the island of Tobago .
The third phase of the Uttara residential model town is situated approximately 20 km (12 mi) from the zero point of Dhaka City. The ward covers sectors 1-10 of Uttara Model Town. [2] It is bounded on the north by the Tongi Khal, on the east by the Narayanganj–Bahadurabad Ghat rail line (across which lie wards 47 and 50), on the south by Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, and on the west by Uttara Lake (across which lies ward 51).
