The Dīpavaṃsa [1] (दीपवंस, Pali: [diːpɐˈʋɐ̃sɐ], "Chronicle of the Island") is the oldest historical record of Sri Lanka.The chronicle is believed to be compiled from Atthakatha and other sources around the 3rd to 4th century CE.
Currently the books are available in eight languages – Marathi, English, Hindi, Urdu, Kannada, Telugu, Sindhi and Gujarati. 35 books titled My District for Std III Geography for each district in the state are available on the website. Only three Sinhala books survive from the Anuradhapura period. One of them, Siyabaslakara , was written in the 9th or 10th century on the art of poetry and is based on the Sanskrit Kavyadarsha . Dampiya Atuva Gatapadaya is another, and is a glossary for the Pali Dhammapadatthakatha , providing Sinhala words and synonyms for Pali words.
