As of the first quarter of 2024, the league was ranked as the 8th best league in Africa by TeamForm.com. [2] Asante Kotoko is the most successful team in the league with 25 titles, followed by Accra Hearts of Oak with 21. The bottom 3 teams are relegated at the end of each season and placed in each zone of the Ghanaian Division One League.
The Division One League, currently known as the Access Bank Division One League for sponsorship reasons, is the second tier football league in Ghana organized by the Ghana Football Association. The winner of each of the three zones will be promoted to the Ghana Premier League .
The club was formed on 21 July 2004 in the then Brong Ahafo Region of Ghana. In 2008, four years after the inception of the club during that period playing and rising in the lower leagues, it was promoted to the Ghana premier league after winning their zone of the Division One League.
