    The 'old' layout seems to be gradually abandoned. I think this is strange: a regular user may hit the dot or comma maybe a 1000 x per day, or more but hardly use the < or > characters. Now they need to press shift and dot, instead of just hit the dot key, or comma. Just hit the 2-key and you'll get the @ key.
