"Wish You Were Here" is a song by English rock band Pink Floyd, released as the title track of their 1975 album of the same name. [2] [3] Guitarist/vocalist David Gilmour and bassist/vocalist Roger Waters collaborated in writing the music, with Gilmour singing lead vocals.
The Wish You Were Here – Immersion Box Set includes the new stereo digital remaster (2011) by James Guthrie on CD, an unreleased 5.1 Surround Mix (2009) by James Guthrie on DVD and Blu-ray, a Quad Mix (which had been released only on vinyl LP and 8-track tape) on DVD, as well as the original stereo mix (1975) on DVD and Blu-ray.
"Have a Cigar" concludes with a guitar solo, which is abruptly interrupted by a synthesizer filter-sweep sound effect as the music reduces in volume to tinny, AM radio-like levels. Finally, the song ends with the sound of a radio being dialled off-station; this effect is used as a transition to the title track, "Wish You Were Here".
"Welcome to the Machine" is the second song on Pink Floyd's 1975 album Wish You Were Here. [3] [4] It features heavily processed vocals, layers of synthesizers, acoustic guitars as well as a wide range of tape effects. The song was written by bassist Roger Waters.
The band performed the whole nine-part "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" as part of the Wish You Were Here portion of their 1977 In the Flesh Tour, with extra musicians White on guitar and backing vocals and Parry on saxophones and additional keyboards. Parts I–V became a staple of Floyd's performances from 1987 to 1994.
The band reunited in 1996, with Gilmour, Mason and Wright being joined by Billy Corgan, to perform "Wish You Were Here". [34] Waters rejoined Gilmour, Wright and Mason at Live 8 in 2005, the band were supported by Carin on additional keys and lap steel, and Renwick on guitar and bass. [35]

This was the first time "Welcome to the Machine" and "Wish You Were Here" were played live, with the latter being played differently than the studio album. It featured an extended guitar solo, a reprise of the second verse and Richard Wright closing the song with a piano solo.
