Philipsburg Manor (sometimes referred to as Philipse Manor) was a manor located north of New York City in Westchester County in the Province of New York. Netherlands-born Frederick Philipse I and two partners made the initial purchase of land that had been part of a Dutch patroonship owned by Adriaen van der Donck .
There are 244 properties and districts listed on the National Register in the county, including 19 National Historic Landmarks. The cities of New Rochelle, Peekskill, and Yonkers are the locations of 13, 14, and 28 of these properties and districts respectively, including two National Historic Landmarks (one in New Rochelle and one in Yonkers).
By 1965 Westchester County moved to condemn the property, which it did four years later in 1969. Not long after, under the County's Orders, the deteriorating structures on the property were demolished. [1] The property and many of the buildings on it were filmed shortly before and after the demolition by local resident Frederic Cole.
