Bridgetown, Barbados: On October 24, 1999, the four double columns of the left-hand side of the then-modern Barbados Hilton in Needhams Point collapsed and imploded inwards in just 10 to 15 seconds during an earthquake. It was later demolished in May 2005 after Hilton Hotels constructed a new property in January that year.

The fort was property of the Colony of Barbados until 1836, when it was acquired by the Crown. It was decommissioned in 1905. [5] In 1966, the remains of the fort were stabilized during the construction of the original Hilton Hotel in Barbados. [5]
Needham's Point Lighthouse as seen from the coastline. The octagonal lighthouse was constructed in 1855 at the southern end of Carlisle Bay.It is currently non-functional and partially restored by the Hilton Hotel which owns the lighthouse and surrounding grounds.
