Several readers of Robert Frost’s work applaud him for his patriotism. Philip Booth, an American poet, highlights the patriotic nature of Frost’s work.Booth states “we became a free nation not in surrender to a parent-state, but by giving ourselves outright to the revolutionary impulse,” [5] making reference to America gaining independence from Britain.
After the Kennedy inauguration, Frost had "high hopes" of finishing the collection of poems he had been promising Holt for the past several years. As of 1954, the title was "The Great Misgiving". It had been Frost's misgivings about the quality of his later poetry that had prevented him from putting it into print much earlier. [4]

As it was being published, Frost met with fellow writer Ezra Pound, who insisted they immediately go to Nutt to see a copy of the book in print. Pound offered to write a review that day and soon introduced Frost to poet William Butler Yeats. [5]: 127–8 Yeats said he considered A Boy's Will "the best poetry written in America in a long time."
