In August 1976, the Paramount Theatre was sold to Seattle-based West Coast Theatres company. [13] The owner offered to sell the property to the city for $4 million in 1980, but the city council debated whether to renovate the Paramount Theatre or demolish it and build a new performing arts center from the ground up.
