The Wake County Public School System (WCPSS) is a public school district located in Wake County, North Carolina. With 159,995 students in average daily membership and 198 schools as of the 2023–24 school year, [ 3 ] it is the largest public school district in North Carolina and 14th-largest in the United States as of 2016.
In the school year 2006/2007, the school had a total population of 1,866 students. Southeast Raleigh Magnet High School originally was built to serve 1,699 students, but has added 16 mobile units (trailers) to increase that number to 2,083. Until the mid-1990s, Enloe was the only magnet high school in the Wake County Public School System, leading to a high concentration of academically talented students. The 1993 graduating class included 42 National Merit Semifinalists, a number that remains a state record.
