'periodic winds'; [1] sometimes found in the Latin form etesiae), meltemia (Greek: μελτέμια; pl. of μελτέμι meltemi), or meltem are the strong, dry north winds of the Aegean Sea, which blow periodically from about mid-May to mid-September.
